A good candidate for successor to the current MX470.
256K RAM, 1M flash, 64/100 pins. Pin-compatible on power level, but not fully pin-compatible (I/O ports are different). Doesn't need an external crystal to work with the USB, has more peripherals and lower power consumption.
Maybe a good challenge for someone (Geoff?) for an improved port...

PIC32MK1024GPE064 for example

PS. Other interesting new parts are the MX174/MX274 and MX175/MX275 families, which are directly usable with the current ports but can go up to 72MHzEdited by kiiid 2017-05-19

Yes they look interesting...I see the PWM and quadrature interface modules
as well as the 32MX and double precision FPU - good for driving stuff.
There are op-amps as well, and an errata of course

.
I was kind of hoping for news of the DA too by now (hmm).

edit - and TWO USB modules per chip...
