Interesting...... IF this chip was worthy of pick-up by Geoff and Peter, it would be a drop-in replacement for the standard SOIC 170 chip on the Explore-28 module. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

oooh! Nice! The 17x is still a very capable device and ideal for smaller installations. I use loads of them with HC12s in wireless networks for things as diverse as snooker table light control, beer-barrel sterilization and customer feedback pods. They all use encryption on their traffic and I recently had to write a simple rolling encryption routine because the stock 170 struggled to keep up on throughput of longer RC4 encrypted strings in rapid succession. I have shied away from converting an MD5 routine I have (not deprecated like RC4) for the same reason. The 50% extra grunt would immediately allow me to harden the radio chatter. hopeful |

I have have been experimenting with the MX174 as an advanced Micromite and unfortunately it is not a straight drop in replacement for the MX170. However I am hoping to get the firmware to dynamically switch between the two chips. Watch this space. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Where can you get the 174's from? I can't see the DIP anywhere?? |

There are no DIPs! Michael causality ≠correlation ≠coincidence |

At least that explains why I can't find any!!! |

Geoff, I assume you have seen the extensive errata In particular, note that the CLK0 pin is an output on power up regardless of config so this pin isn't safe to have connected without a current limiting resistor. I also really like this one (NOT!!!) This one is also dangerous if programming a part in circuit |
