These modules are interesting. Fully adjustable, OR programmable for any of the more common voltages these days. 500kHz switching frequency. Switcher chip is a MP2315 Buck-Converter.

This video shows a module under test, and under an amp or so of resistive load, they seem quite good. Like most buck-converter modules, the output inductor needs to be chosen based on load, and the one on the board might need swapping for a different value if you are NOT going to suck at least an amp from it.

Still, for the price......
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!
