Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

It's not is if I'm going to attempt to fix the dead Ubiquiti Bridge on my roof, but stumbled on this which was interesting.

Looks just so simple...

Edit:- It's actually a dead one of these I've suffered.Edited by Phil23 2018-07-20

I have tried to insert the link several times, several different ways and it does not seem to work for me either. I can watch it but not paste a link to it.

If you go to his youtube page and then select the video "Nanostation M5 Repairing Lan". I think that is the link he was referring to.Edited by Azure 2018-07-20

1st,

The first link and the one from Azure do not seem to work.

And 2nd,

OMG what sort of solder is that? It looks like plumbers solder.

I havent personally soldered any quadpack that has the solderpad on the underside.

Regards,

Mick

Thermal pads on QFP's or QFN's are a pain in the arse. If you HAVE to use that footprint, then a nice big via(3mm or more hole size) right under the pad works well. Once you have soldered all the pins, fill up the via with solder, which will also solder to the thermal pad.

I tried posting several links, maybe you caught one of the edits I tried that I could not get to work either (some attempts were using codes generated by youtube). I think the link to his youtube page that I ended up with works.
