I imported my project from MPLAB 8.92 into MPLAB X successfully but can't simulate it like I do with 8.92.

The tutorial indicates that I need a device such as PIC KIT3 between the computer & the PIC.

But I want to do it in MPLAB X only as I do in 8.92. I have not been able to find how to do this in the tutorials.

I think I may have clicked on the wrong tool. I think I chose Simulator.

The attachment shows the window at which I grind to a halt. Any advice will be appreciated.

Why why why do you feel the need to use the awful X! I know you are forced by windows support but I am still using XP/SP3 to ensure ongoing support for all my tools, I had a go with X sometime ago and found like you lot's just doesnt seem to work so I have never touched it since :)

The concept of simulation has pretty much disappeared from all IDE for all uC chips from any of the big manufacturers and has been replaced by in-circuit debugging using various I/F tools (PicKit, JTAG, etc). Realistically there are just too many different chips to support emulations for all of them and you just end up chasing bugs in the emulator that may or may not occur in silicon

Because it is the current IDE for all Microchip parts and support for all the new chips is only available through it. Given that the complete Micromite range is developed under MPLabX it can't be so terrible.
