Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Maybe someone should introduce Andreas to MMbasic and Micromites?

Pretty heated comments, for sure! It seems that people have a hard time with an interpreted language running on a microcontroller, based on speed. I get that, but with todays micros, and depending on the project, this can and does work quite well.

Reading a lot of the comments shows how people have a certain mind set and that is how it is for them. No changing. Micropython is pretty cool and I did look at it for a bit, but in my opinion, MMbasic is even easier and might I even say, more capable considering its ease of use. Speed has never been an issue for me (EVER) with MMbasic. Making use of the pic's hardware interfaces allows for high speed control of external devices, displays, RTCs, etc. so there is no speed bottleneck there. Granted, I am not making controls for aerospace or medical, (not that MMbasic couldn't handle a lot of the applications) but for anything I've thrown at it, MMbasic does the trick and does it perfectly and rapidly. With the Cfunction capabilites, even more so.

Also, for a beginner, MMbasic is by far, much easier to grasp than micropython, IMHO.

If I ever get a bit of time on my hands, I would love to make a video using a 170 doing something really cool and elaborate. Using the dip, most will instantly think its an arduino, and at the end of the video show the code using MMbasic to do it all. Those are the comments I would love to see...

I seem to be missing the "comment section". A link I need to click on?

It's funny how many languages have been declared dead over the years yet are not really ex. And how often the new great one would conquer all. Many of those are dead!

Some were very nice but somehow failed to go mainstream and/or they were essentially from a single place which discontinued the tool (due to being bought or going broke or whatever). A few limp on despite that.

I recall when C was declared to be soon dead...

(To be replaced by the likes of Pascal.)
