I've been using E28's from Grog for development and love them. I'd like the ability to save and store programs onto a SD card which means I'd need a MM+ platform.

I'm looking for a bare PCB solution as building SMD and sourcing SMD is not a problem and I'm cheap. US sourced parts (boards) is preferable for shipping costs.

I've seen Circuit Gizmo's has the CGEXPLORE64 bare which is fine except I can not for the life of me find the P5717 mSD card holder here in the US. I've looked at the TFT Backpack+ by Peter M. which seems like it would work too. I can't find any documentation on it though to see what SD card holder I need. I believe it has a place for a SD card.

Also the CGMMSTICK1 which is a Maximite machine. I'm not sure but Maximite seems to be essentially the same as a MM and it has SD storage. It's not clear what the Maximite branch of the family offers or does not.

I'm not interested in on board video or kbd functions or color. I do all by console anyway. If the pcb has this functionality, fine, I'd just not use it.

Or is there another solution out there I'm not seeing?

Advice welcome!

Thanks!

I'll send you a free mSD card holder with the bare board.

Howdy.

Matherp wrote a C-function based SD card driver. It is a very simple driver, and there are some limitations. See this thread for details.

It DOES allow you to use and SD card for files on a 170-based Micromite though.

Thanks guys, good info. CG - which bare board, the CGEXPLORE64? I think that uses the mSD. That's great, Thanks! I see a few other things you sell I'll order too.

Grog - I will check the thread. That could work too with little cost.

Highly recommend the CGIMICROBOARD2 from Circuit Gizmos - solid as a rock (I believe it's the Peter Mather design) with advantage of shield interface for development.

Also, I found Rob and the team there at CG excellent to deal with.

panky.

PS. I have 5 of these (two have been running non-stop for over a year).
... almost all of the Maximites, the MicromMites, the MM Extremes, the ArmMites, the PicoMite and loving it!

Matherp's code is designed to work with an add-on SD card holder breakout-board thing, such as this uSD one or this full size SD card one.Edited by Grogster 2018-12-03

I use that driver for the Sensor.Engine:MICRO for logging.

Thank you, Panky for the kind words!

The CGIMICROBOARD2 PCB layout is my effort. There was a CGMICROBOARD1 with a 44 pin chip but I moved to the MM+ to replace it.

CG - I just ordered 2 of the CGEXPLORE64 bare boards off your site. If you could spare 2 of the mSD card holders that would be much appreciated.

Is there a state side source of them? I would buy some if did not have to go international.

Thanks!

Bob

Sure thing, Bob!

Not sure of a U.S. source. I get them from China via a slow boat.
