I have a video of a buck/boost PSU module, but the commentary is all in Russian, and so are the subtitles! ![]() Are there any Russian members here or members who can speak Russian, who could help me to translate the video? Please PM me if there are and members who could look at the video and help me translate it. Thanks. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Howdy. ![]() I did not bother to post it, as being all in Russian, I figured the general forum would not understand it and so..... However, here is the link: Russian video on PSU module... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Hey, nice one, Panky! It was not in the subtitles icon, which is why I thought I could not get any English. It was hiding in the video settings. I guess I should have looked harder.... ![]() Thanks again. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Just a heads up, the following countries are blocked from accessing the server on which thebackshed.com lives. Russia, Ukraine, India, China, Korea. I recently installed a geo-blocking firewall and have blocked these countries based on suspicious activity. About 5% of my server traffic were hacking attempts, and this has dropped down a lot. Most of the attempted hacks now come from the USA, but I dont want to block the USA due to the number of forum members from there. My brother works with a drywall installer who is Russian. I was lucky they were doing drywall today as the next job is a month away. I thought this would take 15 minutes but ended up taking 90 minutes. It got really tiring for both of us after the 40 minute mark mainly because he did not understand the content. The gist is this: Should you consider this One SEPIC DC-DC Convertor instead of the other two buck or boost controller? The next 10 minutes are extreme technical details which can be summarized as: Don't operate the module at less than 4V for sure or it will start to oscillate and only way out is cold start. He then goes on to say where exactly not to operate the module at and he blows them up to demonstrate the point. The best use of this module is when Input is from 10 - 14V input and output is exact 12V Outside this he recommends using either of the buck or boost controller |

Thank you very much for all your effort. Please thank your brother's Russian friend on behalf of myself. The information is very useful. You really should not have put that much effort in, I was just curious if someone could help, and perhaps we could have PM'd about that. But a big thanks anyway. Smoke makes things work. I have not checked out the subtitles. What did you find out from the video? |

It is auto-translation, so is somewhat broken English, but I was able to get some information from it. Your information was very useful, and I have tested one, and yes - if you wind the INPUT voltage down below 4v, the output shoots up to about 50v! Yikes! The way around that problem, is to make sure you ALWAYS feed it at least, say, 6v as an absolute minimum. The output is very stable volts-wise for anything from about 5v-35v or so input, but I get the idea from the Russian video, that the output could do with a bit more external filtering to clean up some of the switching nasties. For the most part though, it seems to work well, and I have used these before, but I am always interested in someone reviewing them, and his video was the only one I could find for THAT specific module. I also like that his video production is very nice indeed, with crisp clean video, and good data including schematics of the module, which was something I was about to do myself - now I don't need to. If only I could understand Russian, but I chose to learn German, and it's too late to change now! ![]() Welcome to the forums, BTW. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
