My Laptop HDD went kaput so I bought a new SSD. Grogster did this a little while back. My problem is I have mounted the drive and I have a windows installation disk but how do I format the drive. The installation starts and loads some files but then throws an error. "It is better to be ignorant and ask a stupid question than to be plain Stupid and not ask at all" |

Wondering what the error message said? From memory the install disk will either format the disk or ask you how you want it initialised / formatted as far as partitions and or sizes. Mike NANO Inverter: Full download - Only Hex Ver 8.1Ks |

Yes I thought the installation disk would take care of it, I will check on the error again and see if I can research it on the web. "It is better to be ignorant and ask a stupid question than to be plain Stupid and not ask at all" |

when I originally got the message (BSOD 0x0000007B ) I thought it must be a faulty drive so I bought a new SSD to replage the old HDD. But still get the message so now think it must be a different fault. "It is better to be ignorant and ask a stupid question than to be plain Stupid and not ask at all" |

Paul, Are you sure your laptop HDD is faulty then? Maybe your motherboard is kaputski? Try the HDD (old) in a USB caddy and plug it into your PC and see if it works ok. Mind you the HDD may have killed your laptop or vice-versa. If you want I am always happy to try to recover the data off your drive for you.. PM if interested.
