While waiting for parts to show up I was tinkering with a 170 backpack version 2 that I hosed over the back light parts and set it aside. I was going to remove the socket and add a ziff but then remembered the holes are too small. So I got into my older junk bin and got the socket headers out but no 28 dip. Was giving up on the idea when I opened a tray of mixed female headers. The long pins to long. But the shorter one turned out perfect the ziff plugs in and the pins pluged into the socket already soldered in. I now have a few other boards Im making into testers. Here is a few pic's Edited 2019-10-05 16:59 by Quazee137 |

Neat idea. Must grab an old one I've got attached to a redundant programmer & try it. ChopperP |

I had a bit of a push on various adapters like this. Made up a board that goes straight into my PICKit programmer and then a few adapters that go into the 28pin DIL ZIF socket. One that has two sides that "hinge upwards and outwards" to allow programming of SOIC based 28 pinners and another that will take a 44pin SOIC (so the 170D) when I get round to butchering that. This way I have tubes of 28pin SOIC outline MMs just waiting to go with the firmware burned in and written on the underside in permanent marker. SOIC ZIF socket I am hoping that this way i have got any package type covered (don't mention SSOP ) EDIT: 44Pin SOIC duh! I , of course, meant QFP Edited 2019-10-05 20:48 by CaptainBoing |
