Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

This is the Andonstar cheapo, less than £40 from most dealers. It's mono only, of course, and not really usable as a production unit but it's within the reach of most hobbyists. There's a decent enough amount of space for soldering unless you really want to zoom right in. Note that the stand shown is far better than the other version which uses a knurled cylinder to raise & lower the head. Obtainable from several places on Amazon. Not bad at all! That would be very usable. |

Hi, I bought one of these last year. Very good for my soldering purposes . I had some problems to find suitable software and ended up with Debut by NCH (freeware version). I am however not completely satisfied with that . Which software are you using? |

That's the software that came with it. I have another program that's on the other computer - I'll have a look next time it's running. It's a bit nicer than this prog, but I just needed something to install on the laptop. :) I like using this nice big display with one of those tiny 8W USB soldering irons from ebay. The tip is actually small enough to not fill the display... -- Mick Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

The nice software that I've used is for the Vividia Ablescopes. It's available for download from their web site: http://www.vividia-tech.com/download.html It's much more professional altogether, although update speed is still restricted by USB. -- Mick Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
