Could do with some sort of indication what is happening when uploading images . I just sat there wondering what was going on?

Got it thanks . The USB metal plug has been ripped off.
If I ever find time to fix the broken pad and run some wires Ill let you know whats on it . Found it in the street.

Be careful with that.  ANYTHING could be on it, including computer viruses etc.
A common way for some computer viruses to spread, is via USB flash drives of unknown origin.
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

Yes of course, good to mention!

But normally on easily working ones, this way would be even super-creative, but generally you are right, never get risky with such issues!

Or ... the former owner smashed it for screwing up his Computer before.

So actually anything is possible.
