Hi guys Well, I am not a big fan of the Raspberry Pi - or Asus Tinker Board for that matter - but I do have a couple of them floating around. I found good use of a Raspberry Pi using the Combian 64 image, which is just amazing. I built a Pi with that image into an old C64C case with a Keyrah and everything. Works great. Yes, I also have a The C64 - also great :) Using a Pi or Tinker Board as a PC is an exercise in frustration and patience. I absolutely hate them for that use. Which means that programming on those units is sluggish and unresponsive. So, thinking about the Combian 64 image, this is like using a real C64, which brings me to my question. Are there any other images like that out there? Images that makes the OS "go away" and just boot into "the meat" like the CMM. Any advice would be great! Thanks! |

Pico looks good. A use for an original raspberry pi and full sized sd card, might feel a bit like a more advanced version of the BBC micro. The information link for pico on that page didn't work, but I found it at: https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Software%20information:%20RaspberryPi:%20RC5%20RISC%20OS%20Pico |

@hitsware2: Have you tried to manipulate config.txt? You can influence many (audio) settings there. @Decoy: Do you know BMC64? I find that much better than Combian 64... Frank |

One would think so , but the SOUND ( my main interest ) commands don't work ![]() I tried a couple of SOUND commands and one worked for me. My test was on a Raspberry Pi model B, with an audio jack and composite video. If you use HDMI you may need to check if the sound is coming through HDMI or the audio jack. SOUND 1,-15,53,10 This gave me a short sound. It was quieter than I expected for maximum volume. I'd tried -7 instead of -15 first and didn't hear it. You should get a tone the you start Pico, and if you press Ctrl-G. (they might have been a little quieter though) Edited 2020-07-24 22:43 by capsikin |

but not the VOICES .. I ' ll try again though .. VOICES 8 *CHANNEL 8 Percussion-Snare *VOICES Displayed a reasonably looking output for me. I think I tried something similar earlier and the *VOICES output wasn't affected, but my earlier command had already scrolled off the screen so I couldn't tell what I'd done wrong. Weirdly, *voices also works, although a lot of other stuff is case sensitive. I miss the ENVELOPE based sounds from the BBC Micro version of BBC BASIC |
