Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi, I've only had my CMM2 for about a week and someone may already have asked this but as I live in Germany I am using the German keyboard and most things are fine but there is a key to generate the < and > characters which is correct but when I press the # and ' key I also get < and >. So I can't get the ' character when adding remarks to a program. I know I can use the rem command but is this a bug or am I just missing something.  IanS

One of the other German users defined the keyboard mapping for me. Looking at the code the # and ' characters should be on the key to the left of the Z. If you don't have this key then please post a picture of your keyboard

Hi and welcome,

from the CMM2 manual p52:
  Quote  OPTION USBKEYBOARD nn

Set the language type for the attached USB keyboard. ‘nn is a two character code defining the keyboard layout. The choices are US for the standard keyboard layout in the USA, Australia and New Zealand and UK for the United Kingdom, DE for Germany, and FR for France. This command can only be run from the command line and will cause a reboot of the CMM2.

Leider keine Umlaute!

Thank you for the quick response and as the keyboard I was using is a compact one with one or two keys in unusual places I thought I would connect a larger keyboard to photograph and found that the # and ' work perfectly with the larger keyboard so it is obviously something about the compact keyboard and not a general problem. So for me problem solved. Yes as Michael says there are no Umlaut characters but I can certainly live with that. I have the original Colour Maximite and know I'm going to have a lot of fun with the CMM2. I've been programming since the late 1960's long before the microprocessor and have used many different languagess Assembler (Various) ,Fortran , PLM,Forth,C,C++ but if I get to choose I still love programming in Basic.
Thanks again,
Ian
