Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have been seeking a sound card type oscilloscope
for some time .
I choose ( if possible ) to not use Windows .
I have looked for a Raspberry Pi version to no avail .
I now find that there are many that will run on an
inexpensive Android T . V . box .
Why the differance ?

a popular choice is sigrok:
https://sigrok.org/

this is open-source and can be compiled for all the major platforms (win32, linux, osx, android). i feel it should operate with a sound card, but a quick look didn't produce any useful info.

but it can be used with one of these:

RPi vs android: both are linux under the hood. RPi has desktop optimized for the lower computing resources available, or you can run more standard distros. android is a 'google-a-fied' version of linux with a layer on top to simplify the UI and steer you towards using the google software store, but with a little hacking around you can sidestep most of this.

cheers,

Android rocks!
The same way that MMBASIC is our secret weapon for MCUs, RFO BASIC is the same for Android. Couple them together and nothings beats it
