Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi guys,

just finished building CMM2 and had a blast doing it. What a neat project and the software is great!

Only problem I had during the build: Had to de-solder and purchase a new SD card socket. The card detect and write detect pins are very close to the shield (for my soldering skills). I got a tiny teeny bit of solder under the socket/pin which somehow was touching the shield. Had to remove the whole socket and damaged it in the process.

Thanks again! Had so much fun and much more to come!

P.

My congratulation also.  Welcome to the club.

Yes, the CD and WP sensor pins are VERY close to the shield on that socket, and it is very, very easy to accidentally bridge to the shield.  I use the finest solder I can find in my workshop for doing those two pins, so that you have much more control over the amount of solder that is flowing.  I use 0.38mm solder for those pins, and plenty of flux.
