Here is a game I've been working on which is inspired by all of the text based Star Trek games. It's far from finished, but you can go around and blast the klingon ships. ![]() Here is the git-repo if your interested. If my motivation continues then I'll be continuing development, but music and sound effects are my weaknesses, so I may never get to that stage. spacetrek-v14.zip EDIT: I'm running v5.06.00b2, and it uses the INC instruction, so probably won't work with v5.05.xx. I just gave the game a spin, I like it - and I especially like the design! Funny, it seems to be in the same vein as Starship Intruder, which is a most triumphant game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1370720/Starship_Intruder/ I would really like Space Trek to have a more "Enterprise"-design on the player ship , and even though I am also a Stargate-fan - I still prefer the good old "warp" to "gated". Nitpicking? Yessir ![]() Edited 2021-01-01 03:12 by Decoy |

I have warp, it's just that you warp around to the different sectors in the quadrant. You use impulse drive to move around the sector (to get near enemies, stars, or supply pods). I'm thinking that once you clear out a whole quadrant and survey/scan all the star systems, the "company" will open a stargate to another quadrant for you to explore. Haven't gotten most of that in yet though. Here is a new version in which the enemies now shoot back, and you ship systems are now limited by their health: spacetrek-v0.15.zip |

I like it. I was wondering why you didn't just use hotkey binds or allow scrolling up and down the list and hitting enter? They call me Shai-Hulud (The maker) |

I think there is a point to have to type the commands. It reminds me of the old adventure games, mostly Sierra Online (Larry etc.). That is also why I like Starship Intruder. I just like to....type . |

In the original, you had to type as well (but I guess it was a number instead). I may do hotkeys after I get some other things done on it, but probably not menu selection. Right now I'm putting in the ship's damage showing up as reduced visuals and reduced system capability and also doing repairs. It's tough testing when you can't repair anything, but have to start the game over. May need a hot-key for "instant" repairs, for testing. |
