Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

It really annoyed me that with downloading stuff to the Downloads folder, W10 groups the previously downloaded files by date, so you have the files listed under Today, Last Week, Last Month etc etc. There is no obvious way to change the grouping method.

Did some Googling & found my others felt the same way.

Eventually found that if you Right Click in the Downloaded files window, you get the option to select "Group By" & then "None". This removes the annoying grouping & shown the files with the normal sorting methods. Not sure if it is permanent of not.

Much happier now

Apparently, the Downloads window which pops up, is different to the Windows explorer one.

Great tip!

I also really hate that grouping, so thanks!

Awwww comeon! Don't drink the coolaid! Forget Bill Gate's weird folder structure!

Put your data files on another disk ... or at least a second partition ... not mixed in with all those windoze directories. My data disk is H: on this machine.

My default download directory (it's not a folder, damnit) is H:\x.

I view it in Total Commander, a fork of Norton Commander ... just like Napoleon Commander.

I can sort it any way I want.

TC lets me move the download, after the fact, anywhere I want ... just like Napoleon Commander.
