I am looking for a schematic for the Explore 28 (as sold by micromite.org & rictech.nz), but have not been able to find one. I have found the 'LCD Backpack' schematic, but have found nothing on the Explore 28. I have tried searching this forum, but for some reason I get a "fatal error" searching for 'explore28', nothing when I ask for 'e28' (the 'search' button does absolutely nothing) and lots of useless results from 'explore 28'. Any pointers appreciated. Thanks, |

As an aside, the PIC32MX270F256 appears to be almost identical to the PIC32MX170F256, the latter being used in the Explore 28 board/s. The difference appears to be USB support and the loss of a couple of general I/O pins as a result. With the current shortage of chips, the '170 is becoming hard to find. Will the interpreter run un-modified using a '270? ...I have a few '270s up my sleeve (although I also note they are becoming just as hard to find). Cheers, |

Grogster may have some for sale, he sells the E-28. If not I have one I can let you have, send me a PM ifyou want it. Edit. Just checked, RS Components and Element14 have them. To use the USB port use this version of MMbasic. https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/uploads/kiiid/2017-06-20_094554_Micromite-MX270D.X.production.hex.zip More info. on this page https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?TID=9358&PID=143940#143940 |

@palcal Thanks for the info on the suppliers. I am about to start a new design and the 28 pin PIC is a good choice. The 44 pin version chip is too big for my application. Although a little overkill (memory/speed), code testing & development with MMbasic is going to save me *SO* much time. I have a couple of PIC chips (both types), but at present no Explore 28 board itself. @phill99 Thanks for the tip on those downloads. I'm onto it! EDIT: Looks like the code for the '270 version (both the PLCC44 & SO28) is quite old (2017). Won't affect me though. Cheers, Edited 2021-06-02 19:09 by MustardMan |

Yes, MMBasic will automatically detect the MX270 and adjust to run exactly the same (with two missing pins as you noted). Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

I didn't know that. Can you use the USB as the console as well? @MustardMan, Geoff wrote and article on the E28 for Silicon Chip. They may have the bits to build one if you don't want to buy one from Grogster. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

Not with standard MM2 firmware which already uses all flash available |

Thanks Peter, I thought that would be the answer but I had to ask. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

@Turbo46 Thanks - I ordered a few (prebuilt) from Rictech in NZ earlier today. @Geoffg Thanks for the concise answer, exactly what I was looking for. |
