Aliex adaptor

I just wired up similar today--4 pins with 5 volts and a MCP1826ST Regulator. I'm surprised the adaptor doesn't have a larger capacitor, but I haven't experimented enough to know what is really likely to be required--just know that weedy power is a recipe for failure.

I've ordered 3 of them--if they work, they should make using the ESP-01 much easier.

I bought (a long time ago) the following serial module (not for ESP-01 but similar). This one has an ESP module that doesn't have PCB trace antenna, so might have a better signal even without using an external antenna?

The program switch allows easy updating of firmware if necessary. Has level shifters so 5V MCU OK. Has reset button.
It's been so long ago I can't remember where I bought it from but I think it was "ESP-07 Serial Wifi"

I also have bought a similar looking "ESP12E/12F Adapter v1.0" (no photos) similar to the ESP-07 above but it didn't have a Program/UART toggle so can't easily update firmware, and there was no reset button. The pinout was the same though, so looks like many of these modules have same pinout.
