So last night, I had to go in to Dallas for a Birthday Party, and as I always do I made a stop at Micro Center incase I could obtain any Pi's. like when the Pico First came out Micro Center had them for $2 limit 5 per visit. and they NEVER had any, and I was doing a multi week Autocad side job near Micro Center so Every day like it was my Job I'd go in and collect my "Limit 5" Rain Check on the way in, at lunch, and on the home. This is my little bit of Vindication because Micro Center is on a good day a 45 min - Hour drive each way, and their website will say they have 25+ of something in stock and it'll be "in Store Only" so no Pre Buying it, then when you get there they have nothing. I've stood in the store looking at their website telling me they have 18 PI 4 in stock, then have some Mgr tell me "You can't go buy that you should pre buy them if you live so far away" when you can't pre buy "in Store Only" So Only thing in stock is PicoH I'm gonna get 1 it rings up at $2.99 so I ask the PFY (Pimply Faced Youth) how many more do you have and he goes back in the cage where they keep them and says there 3 more, I say fine I'll Take them. And PFY smartly opens his mouth like he needs the spanking he was about to get, says "Can't do that it's limit One per Household" so I see the GM Jim and Yell out at him, and told Jim I was on my way to the 777 Club for a birthday party, do I need to bing back some of my drunk redneck friends to get these other 3 picos or can "I Just buy them, For them" and Ohh Yeah it was no Problem, no need to break up the party :) but 4 Picos with headers @$2.99 each I'll be checking back often for the next shipment plus I still got like 30 - 35 raincheck to Cash in! Plus if that Mysterious Pi4 ever comes in I'm so Desperate for 3 of them I may be Vulgar, but , while I'm poor, I'm Industrious, Honest, and trustworthy! I Know my Place |

@hitsware2 Scuse me? The hero here was the store manager doing his bit to keep "drunk rednecks" off the road. |

There was never any danger of Drunks on the road, 777Club is Litterly across the Street from Micro Center, and for a round of Drinks, I'd March them there like were going to build a bridge over the River Kwai. TBH I can't see the need for the H version if you can solder. The pins are stupidly cheap and it takes no time to fit them really. And you can use coloured pins to identify your PicoMites! Ok for a beginner who wants to just buy one and plug it into a breadboard, but I'd much rather have a few in stock that I can surface mount if I want to. They are easier to store too. Well Mick, You Lucky dog, by the Grace of God, Citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her Majesties other realms and territories. you can pop on down to the High Street or Tesco anytime you want and get and get any Raspberry Pi you want. Us Rabble Rousers here in the Colonies have to take what we can get when we can get it, and for $2.99 each that's a bargain. Right now I have 3 Robot Dog Kits Built and waiting on Pi 4 boards I can't get for love or money. But I still love our British Brothers even if ya All are holding out on us. Hehe.... It doesn't work like that round here. I wish it did! All our little electronics shops have gone long since. We used to have independents as well as Tandy (Radio Shack) and Maplin. All gone now. :( Even computer shops seem to have only managed to stay open if they are handling service contracts for businesses and/or also have an on-line business. Just about all components are mail order unless you go to one of the larger cities such as Manchester, where you might still find a small shop if you know where to look. No-one can get Pi4 boards - you aren't alone! If you are *really* lucky you might be able to find the odd 3B. You'll be lucky to find a shop with a Pico in. Most vendors are limiting Pico and Pico W boards to one per person. They're not in short supply, but we are seeing customers hoarding if they can. Chicago Electronic Distributors will happily sell you as many Raspberry Pi 4B kits as you want. Bare Raspberry Pi 4Bs in more than qty 1? Forget about it. What with most Raspberry Pis going directly into industrial applications and not much improvement in supply forecast until Q2 next year, resellers prefer if the scalpers don't make all the money off the deal. |
