Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi everyone! PicoMite User Manual - Draft 1 says regarding the command IR SEND: "This is intended for PicoMite to PicoMite or Micromite communications". I'm wondering why there is virtually no mention of comms using IR SEND on the forum. All efforts seem to be focused on the other more popular serial comms. What kinds of comms applications were originally envisaged for use with IR SEND/IR DEV commands? One-way? Half-duplex? The commands are built into the PicoMite and ready to go. Could they be a simple way of adding more digital outputs and/or inputs using extra PicoMites? ... Louis |

IR SEND is intended to act as a Sony IR remote control, not a data link as such. The receive system can handle both Sony and NEC button codes. If you want to add more I/O then there are easier, faster options such as I2C or COM ports to link the devices. Audio over IR...... Have a kit somewhere to build that -- 3.5mm jack to IR diode (transmitter), with a detector / amplifier / speaker to receive it.. So much to build and not enough time. N Entropy is not what it used to be |

Oh, that's quite possible - but, as with IR comms, you'll have to handle it yourself as MMBasic won't be of any help. :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
