Went wandering through one of the big stores, looking for a new keyboard. Never considered a gaming-type before (don't do games) but I was looking for something resilient and I guess these things are designed to take a hammering. I agree with the opinions in the recent keyboard discussion regarding the feel of a good quality mechanical keyboard and I have to say that this thing is an absolute joy It's not even mechanical but it feels like it and it's "waterproof". It has that back-lighting stuff and was stuck in disco-mode until I downloaded their app and now it has a soft, blue thing going on. It's a steelseries Apex 3 TKL. The TKL means without the numeric pad which is good because it fits nicely in my backpack (I always carry Windows and Android tablets.) Craig |

Yeah that was horrible but after all these decades, I'm still not a touch-typist but I like to work in the dark. This little bit of illumination (I dimmed it) means that I can kill the lights |

Bought an ADATA M.2 SSD to USB host enclosure thing the other month for copying some files from a client's laptop SSD, and that damn thing has the disco lights also. Totally un-necessary, but so many manufacturers seem to insist on the disco bling these daze. I went to buy a replacement case fan the other day, and put it back on the shelf at the last minute, as it "Featured" full-colour LED lighting. On a cooling fan FFS?! Ironically, the plain black-blade fan with NO lighting on it, cost MORE then the UFO type by about four bucks. Go figure.... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

The plain black fan might have better bearings or feathered blades to make it quieter. They might have put more of the build cost where it actually matters. You can pay quite a bit for a good fan. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
