Hi Fellas I am having a problem downloading programmes into my old mono maximite I keep on getting the error message "all root directories taken" I swapped the sd card from my other MM and no error The second time I tried it Same error bought a new card same thing first try ok subsequent fail tried 3 cards all the same . Formatted one - no difference tried all 3 cards in other MM all worked ok I was able to transfer a file using the MM file master and that ran ok I reloaded software into the MM and refreshed MMedit I also tried the latest version of MM edit and bombs out straight away with error AUTOSAVE not valid syntax. I suspect my version needs updating Its got me stumped Your help would be appreciated |

This suggests that you haven't selected 'maximite' as the device type in MMCC My first thought about your other error is you are on drive A:, not the SD card. Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |

Thanks Jim I'm afraid you are dealing with a geriatric here Yes I did select maximite however this is on the maximite control centre that only pops up when the download button is pressed I did save the settings I get the following responses autosave error unknown command then 13 secs later upload completed 201 xxx timed out xxx time taken 1307mS run then nothing looked for a file on B nothing there The new version looks good when I can get to grips with it Cheers Jeff |

If you correctly select "maximite", the command is AUTO, not AUTOSAVE. I checked. That will not explain the more important issue with the error message "all root directories taken" Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |

I selected Maximite in the device box and still get the same message |

I am at a loss. Please try this: Start MMCC Connect to your maximite. try and load your program. copy the full MMCC terminal window and paste it here. To copy the window, select the text with your mouse. When you release the mouse button, the selection is copied to your clipboard. It should look similar to this: Connected to COM7 at 115200 Maximite BASIC Version 4.5C Copyright 2011-2018 Geoff Graham > Maximite BASIC Version 4.5Maximite BASIC Version 4.5C Copyright 2011-2018 Geoff Graham > C:\Users\Jim\Documents\myapps\maximite\apps - Copy\if_test.bas Uploading using: 'target port\COM7:115200 s\maximite Upload started NEW > AUTO Upload completed 201 > Time taken: 4359mS RUN Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |

You didn't "connect" to your maximite first. This is not usually needed but it will help me diagnose things. Look at the line "Uploading using:" You don't have the baud rate and (most importantly) the "device type" set. You have to set the device type , port and baud rate. (1) These setting must appear in the device specifications text box (2) The only other way the program gets the specifications is from the first line of your program but don't go there yet. Hi Jim thanks for your patience The problem is I fire up mmedit the only screen visible is similar to the previous MMEdit versions . There is no button to press to get the MM control centre where all the things you are referring to are I get there by pressing the load and run button at the RH end Its too late then.It (the control centre)then appears and I set up again as you said I then go back to the previous screen to load the program as I cant see any other way Obviously missing something Jeff |

The MMCC is a separate program. You should have a desktop shortcut for it if you installed the MMEdit program. It is also in the Windows menu under MMEdit. If you are running the portable version, you will have to find MMCC.exe in the program folder. It doesn't matter. MMEdit is starting it for you. Don't worry about the failed attempt in the terminal window. Once MMCC is running, do you see the things in my photo from the earlier post just above the terminal screen? if not, turn each row on from the 'view' menu. Make sure your settings look like the ones I have in the photo then click on "Connect" Then leave the MMCC window open and press the "Load and Run" in the editor window. I want to se the Maximite copyright text and everything after that... Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |

You could always add s\maximite to the end of the device configuration box but first try selecting maximite from the pull-down list again. If that doesn't work, select a different device and then select maximite again. What version of Windows (or Linux) are you running? Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |
