Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

For some reason there was no "Save Post" when I tried to reply to the original thread. This is where I found it the other day. https://youtube.com/watch?v=r0csHZveVvY&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE OA47 |

That's a brilliant idea. :) Having a built-in reflow oven is like magic! Now I just need automatic pick & place so I don't have to put up with tiny components pinging off through the air into a 17th dimension, never to be seen again. Note the temperature, You need tin-bismuth solder paste, quite expensive and short shelf life. |

Nice PnP. :) Yep, there's often a downside to nice things, Phil. :( Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

Fantastic idea! @ phil99: Is that paste horribly expensive compared to standard paste? I suppose I should just go and look... I would have thought that standard lead paste would be low temp enough(where it is still allowed, and it is in NZ), with lead-free paste needing more heat, but I would not have thought you would need some exotic paste. But then, I don't really do any reflow stuff at all, all my SMD are hand-soldered. SMD reflow ovens are still quite expensive. You can build your own one out of a toaster oven I suppose, but these self-soldering ones are a brilliant idea, as they become part of the PCB making process, so very cheap to reflow boards using this idea and no expensive oven required. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
