Does anyone know if there might be "Into The Darkness" from Mauro somewhere? He wanted to publish the code, but unfortunately I have only seen the video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Rx_jckkpnY ) and am waiting to finally try it out... Unfortunately I haven't read anything from Mauro for a long time - I hope he's doing well??? Frank |

That's a good sign! Unfortunately, he no longer seems to be developing it for the CMM2... Frank |

Hi, Frank! I'm fine, and I apologize for the delay in responding. My job started taking up a lot of my time, and I began focusing heavily on developing games for the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis. In October 2024, I almost died due to a heart block, which I only discovered I had at age 47. I had a pacemaker implanted, and after a few months, everything was fine. I haven't programmed for CMM2 in a long time, but I've been thinking about going back to it, as it's a platform I enjoyed a lot. Here's the code for Into The Darkness; it's quite preliminary, but you can check out the game: https://github.com/mauroxavierneto/into_the_darkness_cmm2 Edited 2026-02-04 05:11 by MauroXavier |

Mauro It's great to hear from you again and that you are now healthy again. Gerry Allardice (dico4now) has taken over support of the CMM2 and is doing a great job. There are quite a few enhancements since you last programmed on it and hopefully more coming (user defined types). My focus has been on the PicoMite and some of our board members have been doing great things with it including a stunning port of Petscii robots entirely in Basic. I've developed a computer based on the Rp2350 with built in USB hub supporting keyboard, mouse and simple gamepads as well as HDMI output in various resolutions. If you can ever find any time to play I would be delighted to send you one to play with if you like. All the best Peter |

Mauro, I just watched the video. WAUW !! This is marvelous !! I realy look forward playing it. And so hilarious the change from medieval harpsicord music showing the map, and the fearfull sounds when playing the game. Great. The PicoMite will never be able to run this. You really used all power that is in the CMM2. Volhout Edited 2026-02-04 20:37 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

Let me get my hands on Picomite first. I don't know how far I can go, but what I can guarantee is that I want to extract as much potential from it as possible. Today, with the experience I've gained in optimization programming for the SEGA Mega Drive (despite being in the C language), I believe that Into The Darkness could triple in speed on CMM2. Seeing it from this perspective, perhaps Picomite could receive a port, since I'm also migrating the game to the SEGA Mega Drive, which doesn't even have a bitmapped mode, using only tiles to compose the images. Since I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, I have no idea how far it can go in raw capacity, but I know from the specifications that it has less RAM than CMM2, but that's not a problem, because I got along well with the first Colour Maximite. To tell the truth, I like any challenge; limited platforms are what make my eyes shine! My goal will be to do some cool things to attract more users to learn about and join the Picomite community, as it seems like a very interesting project and, if I'm not mistaken, it's easier to get and cheaper than CMM2 (something that could help increase the number of users, especially in Brazil).
