Euphoria.... Would you be more happy when your phone is 10x faster ? Would you be pleased when your laptop is faster and would last 3 days ? It only leads to more data in data centres. Maybe, just maybe, the world is better of when we take a step back. Replace all phones with Nokia 3310's (it ran a week on a tiny battery), so we can focus on what is realy important for men. And get excited about the real world, and not a virtual world. Focus on the climate. In stead of Tech. So much from "grumpy old" Harm. Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

You can assume that there will be applications that will bring the speed back up to today's level. ![]() 'no comment |

Well said, that man! There are uses for higher speeds with lower power requirements, but they aren't for everyday users. The huge bit-barns that use so much electricity and require massive amounts of cooling are crying out for this sort of tech, but phones are already too thin / dangerous and ebike batteries are already too fragile / dangerous. How would you know your phone was even 3x faster? Why have a laptop that can last 3 days when you can either recharge overnight or even (God forbid) simply change the battery for a charged spare? What do you mean the laptop is too thin? Make it thicker - and put some useful ports back in the process. (Joins Harm's "grumpy group".) If you ask La Quinta Columna (search), Billions "installed" over the past few years. I didn't get one, though. Laptop: Used Panasonic Toughbook (eBay). Cheap, beefy and ports galore. My phone Lasts forever, has a huge speaker with a decent bass response and a proper built-in flashlight. Don't like girly, skinny devices |
