Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I just saw a low cost ($14) assembled board advertised on Tindie.com that claims PicoMite compatibility with SSD1963 displays
https://www.tindie.com/products/aiy745321/pico-display-base-board/

Just add your own Raspberry Pi Pico/PicoW and display SSD1963 display, which cost about $40 on eBay

Note there’s no SD card slot on the board, but the developer says it works with the SD card slot on the SSD1963 display board.

No sound support on the board

I have a couple of these, they work pretty well. This board makes it about as easy as it can be to use an SSD1963. Stick to the 5" or below SSD1963's though, there is no easy way to get larger LCD's the 5V they need for the backlight when using this board. I have been posting the code I have been using to make it work on my github, for anyone who is interested.

I began using Maximite over ten years ago with a custom PIC32MX695/795 board and added an interface to the five inch SSD1963 displays back then.  I also purchased a Color Maximite. I was pleasantly surprized to see that Geoff had released firmware for the Pico, and it supported the SSD1963.  So, I built a PCB for my own use in 2022 and found my old displays still worked. I think I paid $15 USD for a display ten years ago. Alas, they are almost $30 USD now.

I recently retired and thought someone else might want to try the PCB (so, I put it on Tindie.)  Sorry It does not include VGA or sound.

I updated the PCB to include power for the Seven inch SSD1963 display board.  All current owners were sent a free replacement board (last week.)

Also, I released a Windows executable (PDLB) at GitHub that helps designers layout PicoMite Advanced Graphics.  You can pick Controls and drag them onto a 800*480 canvas (Landscape). Then you can edit properties including color, caption, and size. One can then press a button and it will generate MMBasic code.  Its a bit limited in what one can do.  So, I added a button to push the code to MMEdit where you can edit it further.
Maybe it will help someone.  It helped me to visualize the layout.

Oh and the SD card works very well with PicoMite.  One can even put a BMP or JPG file on the SD card and display it on the SSD1963.  The integrated touch just works.  The only thing to remember is to run gui calibrate if you switch from a five-inch to a seven-inch display.
