Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi all.

I am looking for a simple video editor, that just allows me to drop video files into the timeline, and perhaps add some captions or text on top.

Nothing fancy at all, but I would need the finished product rendered as a SINGLE output video file.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Free is good(not wanting any kind of fancy effects), but will also happily look at shareware that does what I want.

I think Windows 11 has Clipchamp built in. It's also available for Windows 10.
At least it's free (no watermark up to 1080P and with a some limitations).

Wanted the same thing awhile ago and so consulted with my son who works for big-media. At first, I thought he'd misunderstood my simple needs when he recommended DaVinci Resolve because it looked a bit big and intimidating.

Turned-out to be child's play

It's not a video *editor* though. Their editor VLMC isn't available yet (only as source code).

Another vote for kdenlive.

There's a bit of learning, but it's easy enough to get nice results.

Thanks very much for all those posts, chums.
I appreciate it - several things to research now.
