Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I am hoping some of you out there will be able to give me some feedback regarding the audio amplifier used in Geoff’s brilliant PicoGamer project (see here).

I am needing to find an amplifier (mono or stereo) that has near zero ‘hiss’ when no audio is passing through.
Most low power amps (<3W) ICs seem to have real bad hiss using the standard circuit in the associated datasheet. However, on paper, the PicoGamer amp IC seems to have an above average spec.

Has anyone out there built the PicoGamer? If so, when turning the volume to maximum, can you hear any background hiss?

Appreciate any comments or recommendations….

Most class D amplifiers switch far outside the audible spectrum.
You should not be able to hear the hiss when the input is really off.
