Tried to inform in the past but always falls on deaf ears. |

Pico can show it's strength when we have a "PLC PCB that can be ordered from JLC" and fits in a standard DIN rail housing. Are you up to the task...? Volhout . PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

I saw basic 15 years ago on a Atmel1284 emulating ZX81 with already some more speed as the original. Completely written in ASM. There is much interest regarding tinkerers but not in mass. This is a niche where everybody has his own thoughts. And if you would let Annex32 vanish from earth, nobody would care. I think, one can only support this by showing off his nice solutions. And I think we are living in the last days of human kind and its the last chance. |

Working on it...only one year behind schedule ![]() ![]() My first target is to compete with this It's a PLC + 4-axis motion controller. Its onboard TrioBASIC executes 31 lines/ms ![]() |

Not true at all. I would care. From my perspective, it's the best Rapid Development System with wifi (and ESPNow). It gets far less attention than it deserves. With the caveat: it's not to be used commercially (not a problem for me). (But it's probably true that not more than a dozen or two would care if Annex is dropped by its creator.) (And I don't know what Annex has to do with this thread.) PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

A PLC is more the software than the hardware. The hardware isn't all that important now as a typical microprocessor emulates true PLC hardware in almost every case. However, it's rare to find a low-end PLC that isn't natively programmed in function block or relay ladder language. They never use C or BASIC. Things like high speed counters or timers are simply modules that the programmer doesn't have to write. If you want an Arduino or a Pico to emulate a PLC that's fine, but you have to start by writing the programming language(s) for it first. :) If it doesn't support function block and/or relay ladder then virtually no-one in industry will want it. It's different when you have the big PLCs, with (in many cases) hundreds of IO points. Many of those can be programmed in a lower level language. In many cases the low end PLCs are referred to as "intelligent relays", which is a much better description of them IMHO. I use ANNEX and Picomite, each is more suitable than the other for various applications. Both projects are evolving significantly and I don't think it's fair to denigrate ANNEX |
