Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi

I discovered a new RP2350 based board with attached screen.  The wiki says that the display controller is ST7789V3 (spi).

Perhaps someone with more knowledge than me would comment on its suitability to run MMBasic.

Not with any of the current ST7789 drivers, I don't think. The resolution is wrong. It might be possible to tweak one of the existing ones.

The schematic seems fairly normal for Waveshare. The micro SD card is using some data lines that MMBasic will ignore. The screen has no touch system. You may be able to power it via VSYS, but there is a diode from VBUS so it can't run its USB in Host mode to drive a hub or work with a keyboard.

These tiny things with displays are of limited use IMHO. They look flashy but aren't really suitable to run from batteries for long  If you are going to plug them into a laptop then why not a RP2040-Zero on a short lead? Much cheaper and you get a full screen console display. Just my opinion though. Ok, this one is a RP2350, but so what? Most of its GPIO pins go nowhere.
