Looks like Arduino was bought by Qualcomm in October. Which raises issues of course, eg for others like Adafruit, their response . A UNO-Q board has been released which is stated to have AI, uno layout and another IDE, at more expense of course. |

Personally I'm suspicious. *In theory* the current Arduino hardware and software are open source and anyone is free to use either and Qualcomm can't remove that right. (Well, probably not. I don't know the licence). The majority of existing libraries are also either open source or the subject of individual or company copyright already so those are also safe. However, it looks to me as if any posts now made to the Arduino Forum containing any hardware or software information are effectively giving that content to Qualcomm free of charge and relinquishing the authors rights to it. Likewise, use of any "Arduino" related cloud content is also handing it to Qualcomm. That would include any libraries uploaded to Qualcomm's servers for distribution. IMHO all it's very messy. You can, I suppose, sell expansion hardware that is "compatible with the Arduino something" but you can't sell it as an "Arduino something expansion board" as that might tread on Qualcomm's toes. Everything is vague - possibly deliberately so. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

Arduino Pro is based on STM32 processors. Pitty for all customers that chose to follow Arduino on this path. ST and Qualcomm are not really friends. This will have consequences. This may work out bad for Arduino. Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

Just point the old Arduino users in the direction of MMBASIC. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
