Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding the Silicon Chip Pico 2 Computer.

Hardware:
Silicon Chip Pico 2 Computer version 2 with the U33 memory expansion and CR2032 battery installed.

I can access the system via the terminal emulation on my Windows 10 system.
System reports:
 PicoMite MBasic RP2350B Edition V6.00.03
I would like to reset and install PicoMiteHDMIUSBV6.00.03.uf2 or the current version

I'm unable to access the 'virtual' drive to install the HDMIUSB version. Tried all sorts of reset, power, enable/disable switch combinations at power up and nothing I've tried gives me access to a virtual drive to nuke or load the HDMIUSB version. I guess I've overlooked something very BASIC. What amd I doing wrong, and how do I fix this?

The Pico 2 Computer has 4 USB ports. Is it possible to use a USB to UTP Ethernet adapter to access other systems via wired Ethernet?

Regards,
Garry

G'day Garry,
If you have a look on the PCB there is a 2 way DIP switch, you need to set these to disable the USB hub, then plug a micro-USB cable into the micro-USB port on the PCB whilst holding the "BOOT" button down.

Probably best to not have anything else plugged in at the same time.

This should bring up the boot drive on your PC.

Good Luck

Regards,
Lyle.

Hi,

Thank you. As the song goes, I've done all the dumb things. I was using the front panel RST button instead of the Boot switch. Just installed 6.01 and will see how that goes.

Is there any support for wired Ethernet?

Regards,
Garry

Assuming you have a micro-USB cable plugged into the firmware loading socket and JP1 and JP2 are open.:-

At the ">" prompt type "update firmware" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

That should create a virtual drive in Win. File Explorer. Drag-n-drop the .uf2 file onto that. The latest version is V6.02.00RC5.

When complete the virtual drive vanishes and the green led on the Pico 2 starts flashing.
Remove the micro-USB cable, insert JP1 and JP2 then plug a USB-C cable into the Console socket and switch on.

The console should now be available on a different com port number, and on a HDMI monitor. The video format is actually DVI-D which some TV sets won't accept.

Driving a USB to UTP Ethernet adapter is beyond the capability of the Pico 2.

For our international audience, were you referring to THIS SONG?
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

Not on the Pico you have.

The Webmite can do TCP etc, and relies on the extra hardware (from RPi) in it.
