Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Excuse my ignorance, as I'm new at the whole homebrew homebuilt computer world. My only mainstream computer at home is a raspberry pi 500. Will I have difficulty getting the firmware onto the CMM2 once I get one built?

See the CMM2 manual Appendix G.
Here is the firs few lines.

Loading the Firmware
The STM32 processor includes its own programmer/bootloader so the Colour Maximite 2 firmware can be easily loaded via USB using a personal computer or laptop (special hardware is not needed). Just follow these steps.

The only slightly weird thing you will need is a USB-A to USB-A cable or adapter. I use two USB-A plugs soldered back to back.
Visit Vegipete's *Mite Library for cool programs.
