Folks,

I would like to make you aware of a new modular series of expanders for the Maximite.

The Maximite Modular Expanders are a series of smaller modules that can be purchased separately and added to over time.

These modules interface to the Maximite via a powered hub.

Note: These modules are separate to the full 10 channel expander module, however some connectivity between module series is possible.

It is also possible to plug any single modular board directly into the Maximite, so if you only needed 4 outputs or 4 inputs then you don't need the Hub.

Currently the modules are as follows.

Modular Powered I/O Hub.

4 Channel Digital output board, with relays.

4 Channel Digital/Analogue Input board.

RS232 Serial Communications board.

RS485 Serial Communications board.

Serial LCD & 16 Key serial, BCD or polled Keypad.

Ethernet/webserver.

These products will be added to my online store later today.

Some of you may also be surprised to see Ethernet in the list as I argued against such a thing in a previous post. However having given it more thought, I believe the solution I have come up with is a good compromise in terms of functionality whilst having minimal impact on the the Maximite it's self.

Rohan, nice to have - a module with buffered I2C and SPI headers, and a few buffered chipselects. There is a lot of spi and i2c gadgets out there so one may connect several to maximite without destroying it.
For example:
4x i2c 10pin headers - buffered
4x spi 10pin headers - buffered

10 pin i2c headers:
5v
3v3
gnd
sda (how to buffer?)
sdc (how to buffer?)
/cs1
/cs2
/cs3
/cs4
nc

10 pin spi headers:
5v
3v3
gnd
sdi
sdo
sclk
/cs1
/cs2
/cs3
/cs4

Are you saying there is a standard for 10 pin connectors and I2C & SPI?

I'd always thought that I2C was 4 wires or maybe 5 if you want to incorporate the INT line present on many I2C devices to interrupt the master to indicate it needs servicing.
