I was trawling the web and as usual got side tracked and came across this http://www.4dsystems.com.au/prod.php?id=131 This look real cool and simple to use so I thought I would let the Maximite world know about them ![]() They can be purchased from Sparkfun or direct from here http://shop.4dsystems.com.au/vga-embedded-vga-graphics-modul es/281-9004.html John |

Wow. Kinda makes my colour mod look like a waste of time. Actually, looking at all the other modules out there, one has to wonder if there is any point in designing anything at all. Electronics has become LEGO for the grown ups. Pick your blocks and clip them all together. The bedroom designer has become obsolete. ![]() |

Sorry Nic that was not the intention Now we just need serial for the Maximite and we can test these. I am going to order one to play with John |

Hey guys It even does "real" sound (not sq wave squawk) and almost costs as much as Don's EV ... $49. The possibilities appear endless with the video. Don't let go now Nick maybe you can patch this to the MM for the rest of us dumb bunnies. Thanks for your efforts Nick I for one was on the edge of my seat waiting to play your colour space invaders. Keith The more we know, the more we know we don't know ! |

Some of you may know, I was 4dSystems only distributor for many years, but that is another very long story. Two Questions: Q1) What micro do you think the 4D device is using, even though it has 4D lettering on top? Q2) Can you get a Maximite to provide QVGA/VGA/WVGA graphics solution to any embedded project, and feed it with serial or I2C, and do it all with MM-Basic? All we need is the ability to run a Maximite without an SD card. Isn't that being worked on? One consideration. MM-Basic speed may be a problem for this application. Then there are products like this: http://www.microvga.com/ Just wondering why they put it on a 20 pin single row header along one side, with so many unused pins. Would have thought an Arduino shield would have done nicely. But then, that is the way I think these days. ![]() or this: http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino/ But what do we want our Maximite to be? You can buy a netbook for $70 http://www.dhgate.com/new-7-via-laptop-notebook-netbook-pc-w ifi/p-ff8080812f5755e5012f6e035e397820.html Cheers Don... https://www.dontronics.com |

This is not unlike Gerard's TFTa colour display driven with "existing" IIC commands and demonstrated on another area here. ie. it already works on Maximite ! Gerard wrote the code for the TFTa pcb, designed by Chris Stake in the TFT_A group. I think Gerard may still have kits for the pcb too. glenn vk3pe VK3PE |

Hi Glenn Only thing with these adapters they drive a normal VGA monitor For embedded applications the TftA is an absolute thing of beauty and of cousre it allready works with Maximite John |

The MicroVGA seems to only output a text display. No high resolution graphics. Boring. The Gameduino one looks much better. Does it create it's own environment? Negating the need for the MM (any SPI host)? |
