Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hey all,

Just wondering what everyone is using their flavour of micro controller for?

I'm building an automated beer brewing setup with a Duinomite Mega. The kids (inc big kids lol) have played Maxman too. If anyone can port Frogger to the colour Maximite I may be able to convince the missus we need to upgrade when it comes out.

Cheers

Hi ,
They are examples of games on the Colour Maximite beta test thread here :
ColourMM
Just look how games are done , all source are included then when you understand
how those are done , a Frogger will not be a big challenge to do

Cheers.

Darth.

Toy or Tool?

I think the Maximite is both... and a very good one at that.

Me too.

It's a fantastic learning tool to introduce people to programming and have an impact beyond the screen. It's popularity would increase if IMHO there were more "plug in and go" expansions for specific purposes. With the software to suit. Eg: An external 240V socket board for users to plug in household devices. The potential is fantastic!

There are heaps of hobbiests out there with a use for a micro controller but without the skill to do it from scratch. I'm willing to make the stretch, but lots of others won't as their main focus is their own hobby, not electronics or programming.

I hope the Maximite continues to mature. I guess it's up to the enthusiast community to make it more accessible to the rest. Imagine all those forums out there..... with maybe one or two people in them who have the motivation to learn how to exploit a max' for their purpose. The word then spreads.... and before you know it, every model train enthusiast has a maximite to get their trains moving, or every gardener/farmer starts logging their rainfall and measuring soil temp,ph,nutrients...
