Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

A new version of MMBasic (ver 4.0) is available for download from http://geoffg.net/maximite.html

This version supports the Colour Maximite and implements a number of new features for the original monochrome Maximite. These include

- Support for colour and the Arduino compatible connector on the Colour Maximite.
- Audio synthesiser with high quality stereo on the Colour Maximite and mono on the original Maximite.
- Support for the battery backed clock on the Colour Maximite.
- Special commands to support animated games (BLIT, SPRITE and LOADBMP).
- Other small features and bug fixes.

The Change Log (included in the update download) details the changes.

No, not at this time.

To convert a mono Maximite to colour you need to remove the VGA connector (difficult because the board has plated through holes), cut some tracks and add some jumper leads. This is not easy and there are other issues, for example using the SD card causes interference on the video screen.

Because of these issues I figured that only a few people would want to do this. The final nail in the coffin was that it took me about two months to develop the Colour Maximite firmware and adding support for modified monochrome Maximites would have added another month or two - time that I did not have to spare.

Fair enough.
It was unclear in the official documentation.
