Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Quote   After reading the cpu manual, it appears that the vga is supported through a PCI bus.
But I cant see any connectors for it, on the circuit diagrams that they provide. /QUOTE]

Hi All

When you look at the board that is part of the kit, it hasn't got
the little PCI extension on the right side.

Yet if you buy the board only, it shows it as part of it.
My conclusion is that to use a display with the kit,
you would use a serial LCD, or I2C display.
I doubt you will be able to fit a full vga to the kit, but see what the email reply will bring.

Hi All

Just an update for those that are interested.
I have bought a unit (The EduCake) and have been playing with it in my spare time.

Conclusions:
You can write a FreeDos Image using Win32DiskImager and it will run immediatly
There are some oddities:
1: I can control the Com4: port with direct writes to the uart, but not using the
standard FreeBasic (Dos) statement. Open Com4:9600,N,8,1,options etc.
So as the addresses are all standard and working I think the problem is with FB.
2: Writing code to control the I/O is strange and I have not been able
to figure it out. Normally on x86 hardware : Out Port,Data will send the data to
the port and set/reset the bits concerned. Been doing that for 30 years.
With this device there is a PCI bus involved and not being a C programmer can't make
sense of the example.
3: The Libraries are in .jar format and not the standard C or C++ that I could use
with FB
4: Support is VERY POOR

I think the whole product line is geared to C programmers (swaheli to me) and their
user interface.
But, I will persevere even if I have to analyze the asm code generated.
