Just a quick message to tell any Micromite Beta testers to check their inbox for the latest version. The big change is that it now has built in commands to handle a number of common peripheral devices. These are: - Infra-Red remote controls - The DS18B20 temperature sensor - Servos - 1, 2 and 4 line LCD display modules - The PCF8563 battery backed clock - 4x3 and 4x4 numeric keypads Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

...and Geoff waves his magic wand once again... Great stuff, Geoff - especially like the built-in commands for LCD's and matrix keypads. The RTC commands will be very handy, if you need to put an RTC on your MicroMite... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Is there no stopping you Geoff? (I hope not!!) Been up all night here in flooded UK finalising TQFP Eval PCB/Module prepping it for fab house. I was just about to go to bed (now 04:30) when I saw your email. Now tempted to stay up for another hour or two upgrading all my MicroMites (got 11 built so far ). Brilliant news regarding LCD driving - will be able to test various including 1x8, 1x16, 2x16, 2x20, 2x40, 3x16, 4x20, 2x40 but not tonight Now can you please hurry along with Beta 7 and include voice & fingerprint recognition, body scanning, and teleporting. (we all expect this by next week assuming you're not too busy on other things . . . .) For everything Micromite visit micromite.org Direct Email: whitewizzard@micromite.o |

Accolades from this quarter also. Just cosmetic at this stage, page 7 44pin chip pin 41 should be MISO not MOSO. David M. |

According to Geoff in the other FORTY PAGE thread, he wrote the following on page 40:
After I have Finished with the Micromite I intend to retrofit a lot of its features into the Maximite/Duinomite/ColoutMM/etc. It won't be immediately but that is on the roadmap. Geoff
So YES, with a bit of a waiting period I expect. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

XMODEM ! When trying to downloda via Xmodem, the transfer stucks. After stopping , the content of the downloadfile was wiped out. Tried it several times, same effect. Used Treraterm with 38400. |

That cannot be right, most of my testing was done using XModem to transfer files. I will recheck but I am baffled. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Sorry Geoff, Mine has done exactly the same thing. I didn't have a backup of the text file and now I'm afraid it has gone to the big bit bucket in the sky. The file still exists but blank!!! Bugger!!! =============== I tried again - made a backup copy of another file and this time it worked ok. Baffled also. David M. |

Transferred few 3-4KB files xmodem and Tera Term both ways at 38400BPS, absolutely NO problems. Maybe there are issues on your PC side? |

The SERVO command is particular interesting as it will make controlling robotic parts easy. Is there a reason why not all five internal OC peripherals can be used? The pins are if i read correctly remappable, would it be possible to to add PWM capability to some digital pins? A typical robot arm has a four/five servos and controlling it from a single mcu would be fantastic. (Like this: uArm) Imagine if they used a uMite, then everyone could hack the software as BASIC is so much easier to use. Having a lot of PWM capable pins is one of the reasons why the arduino is used often. It would please me to no end if i can prevent using the arduino for that. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

I have done the same also since with no problems. I'll insert another chip and see if it is a "first time" effect - hard to believe but worth a try. As for issues with the PC, absolutely nothing has changed other than to load run the latest beta. David M. |

I also have no problems using XMODEM at 38k4. Used the same circuit on the breadboard, just programmed the new beta version. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

Is the problem copying PC ---> Micromite or PC <---- Micromite? Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

If you try to transfer file from PC-->Micromite using xmodem and Tera Term. In Tera Term you must use File-->Transfer-->XMODEM-->Send. If you use ....XMODEM-->Receive you will wipe out the file on PC, and yes it will be stuck because it is trying to receive file from Micromite and save it in new blank file, while Micromite is wating to receive file as well. You may have confused Receive and Send. Micromite Receives and Tera Term needs to send. Micromite Sends and Tera Term needs to receive. Geoff, I recon that was the problem? |
