Hi-de-hi. ![]() I am looking at using an H-Bridge for forward/reverse motor control, but have found that there are dedicated H-Bridge chips that do all this for me, along with PWM support. I am currently looking at the BD6221 driver IC, which has the H-bridge, back-EMF diodes and other features like motor braking all incorporated into the one SOIC8 chip for $5 or so. Does anyone else have any suggestions for doing this? Perhaps a better IC then that linked to above? I do very much like the idea of using a nice compact SOIC that does all the work, over discrete transistors and diodes, which would take up much more PCB space... Smoke makes things work. Hi Grogster Have you thought about some of the already built motor modules like the 50amp dual motor controller from elechouse or the bts7960 modules from eBay or aliexpress, they are cheap and ready to roll. Regards Cliff Cliff |

Never heard of either of those - will search for them - now that I have some references..... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

bts7960 seems to be more a stepper-motor driver, according to the descriptions on eBay. Just for clarification, I am NOT wanting a stepper-motor driver, I need a DC motor driver, with full PWM control from zero RPM, to full RPM via PWM. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Hi Grogster What is the current and voltage of the motor you want to control? Bill In the interests of the environment, this post has been constructed entirely from recycled electrons. |

Nothing much - 500mA MAX @ 12v DC. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

These modules from DX.com will drive two motors up to 2A. The description is fro stepper motors but they drive two independent motors. Connect the PWM to the EN inputs. http://www.dx.com/p/l298n-dual-h-bridge-dc-motor-driver-for- robot-smart-car-green-154444#.U5hBQ7mKBhE ![]() Bill In the interests of the environment, this post has been constructed entirely from recycled electrons. |

Thanks, Bill - they look like likely candidates - will check them out. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
