Found this good product for monitoring USB charging phones, tablets etc
less than $3 on ebay and has internal 4 x 7 segment display that toggles every couple of seconds between current and voltage

I have one and I tapped across the current resistor (0.05 ohms) so that I could monitor the current with an external meter. I find that better when looking for pulses.

Eventually, I intend to make it into a current logger (with a micromite naturally).
