Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Humm.. The version I have (v2.05) has both the PICMX170F256B and D versions...

I did notice the little LED thing on the software stayed RED but the 170's programed OK...

If you have a working 150F with 4.5 MMBasic you could try http://www.g8jcf.dyndns.org/mmbasic/MMProg32RPC.html to program your '170F.

If you're stuck for a way to program a PIC32 you can always resort to using either a Raspberry Pi or a FT232 board using the code I posted towards the end of this thread - work backwards

Hi Plasma,

did you have a PICKIT3?
I downloaded yesterday the MPLAB X IDE v2.20 and programmed my 32MX170 successfull with the MPLAB IPE v2.20 and my PICKIT3...

i have the version 2.05 of the IPE here, and although it does work, it will not fit on the display of my computer - a little netbook with a 1024 x 600 screen. vital parts of the interface are invisible off the bottom of the screen, making it an absolute pain to try and navigate.

is the 2.20 version any better? is it available separately from MPLAB X? how big is the download?

i've just ordered a (clone) pickit 2 specifically to use with pic32prog. deliberately didn't get a pickit 3 as i wanted to have a closer look at the hardware in the 2.

cheers,

Hi Robert ,

the download has 369 mb from Microchip / download Folder but the windowssize from the new Ipe
will also not fit in your resolution.

@ Frank : i have a pickit 3 and now the 2.2 version from Mplab x.

i hope i can create a plugin for my Ledstripe .

@Rob:

I worked always with the "normal" MPLAB and don't know the differences to older MPLAB X versions...
It seems that you must install the complete package (369mb installer file as Plasma wrote)!

@Plasma:

I hope too that your plugin works!
Let me know If you have problems with flashing your PIC. I had first problems with my implemented ICSP circuit.

@Robert

you could try moving the window with the keyboard:

Press ALT-SPACE, then 'M'
Now the arrow keys should shift the screen around.
Press 'Enter' when done shifting.
Visit Vegipete's *Mite Library for cool programs.

tried that. alas, when you hit enter the window snaps back to having a sliver of the title bar at the top of the screen and the rest invisible off the bottom. i'm running XP.

the only thing i have found that (kindof) works is figuring out where the control i want is, then blindly tabbing to it and hitting 'enter'. it is a fairly hit-and-miss process.
