I was thinking on how to drive a TFT easily through Serial, I2C or SPI. Since all "smart" serial LCDs are actually microcontoller driven LCDs I was thinking of using a Micromite as an interface to run a TFT like this TFT. This one also has a SD card on a SPI bus that may be accessible with the Micromite.

Would the Micromite be too slow to handle this? Would I be better off with a 16 or 18 series PIC chip with compiled C? Edited by micronut 2014-10-26

Humm.. I don't think the uMite could be used to drive a LCD panel directly like the 100 pinner MM can... But maybe hook up the 4-D systems SPI based FTDI setup might be a good matchup...

Yes the micromite will be able to drive it. I have a bunch of displays on the way as i want to experiment with that.
Some OLED and TFT's that can be connected to a SPI or i2C.
With the C-Plugins even speed is not a problem anymore.

Microblocks. Build with logic.
