Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Playing around with the VT100 tonight. I plan to use this as a static message display when I use the Internet to remote-administer a CMM-based system. The VT100 board shows this message, and switches a KVM switch to switch the actual VGA side of things, and also isolates the local keyboard, so staff can't interrupt or otherwise upset the remote access of the system.
I have blurred-out the phone number for reasons of privacy, but I really do LOVE these two large text modes on the VT100 terminal.
Image looks orange, but that was the camera and low-light. Text is bright red.Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

It has a nice retro 1970's look to it.
Btw if anyone using Geoffs VT100 doesn't need the USB function, you can use an MX150 chip instead of the MX250. I've yet to try the MX170.

@cosmic frog:
You mean flash FW 1.2 into MX150 is that right? I'll try it but have to wait for 8MHz crystal

I don't have the datasheet handy for the 150, but can I assume that pins 9 and 10 can be used for a crystal oscillator depending on the HEX file, it's just in the MicroMite HEX, they are assigned to COM2?

No, you use the 1.0 hex file. The 1.2 is an update which must be programmed in using the USB which doesn't exist on the MX150. You may be able to use one of those USB to TTL things to get the 1.2 update in, I don't know I havent tried, I just use the 1.0 hex and it works ok for me using a VGA monitor.
