Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Here is something to consider - and something for me to show off. I've added an internal speaker to my setup, using a LM386 power amplifier. The project I adapted is this one here: http://hackaweek.com/hacks/?p=131

I went with this because I didn't want to bother with the headphones, I just wanted my box to make noises... and, well, building stuff is fun really.

Here's it in action. The speaker I got from Altronics, the smallest one they had. The IC is quite amazing. In, out, and just a few caps. Runs at about half a watt. Mine's plugged into a 9 volt battery at the moment, but it could run off the computer's 5 volt rail, I plan to fix that up later.Edited by alligator 2014-11-03

Nice, I like the idea of the CMM being able to give basic sound without requiring anything else (headphones or external speakers, etc).

Cheers,
Shane
