HAB (High Altitude Ballooning). Lots of interesting info if you Google "hab balloon tracker". Looks like Jed's off to near space again! |

paceman is correct I use it for High Altitude Ballooning but it could track rockets/model aircraft ect It uses a 10mw licence free transmitter on 434.xxx Mhz to transmit DATA (there is another post on here that details one of the prototype test flights) The power supply is a single AA/AAA Lithium with a very efficient (94%) 3.3v step up regulator, I am testing one now with an AAA its on 60 Hours so far To get the endurance the RTC puts the CPU to sleep in between transmits and disable every thing I don,t need on the GPS In sleep mode it draws just less than 6ma |

Ahhhh... it plugs into the ultra mighty ww44 pin unit. Very Very cool!!!! I would be interested in knowing what the gps unit has for an antenna on that board... |

Well I guess Phil (White Wizzard) won't complain - nothing like a consumable processor for business! And 0.83v - a true last gasp. How did you manage to get a trackable signal out at that level. I guess it's probably been downed by a Russian SAM by now! Greg |
