NZ to win !

But when you lot from down under come up here for the Rugby World Cup, I wouldn't be so sure !

My money is on the Irish to win, with NZ second, SA third

It's gonna be a match allright, no doubt about that.

I have to confess to having only casual interest in it.
Most of the country seem to be obsessed with it, but I have never really cared for cricket, rugby or the America's Cup either, so all I have is polite dis-interest.

I am interested in who wins, but it is nothing to me personally.

Although, I certainly respect those who ARE really into those things, and fully respect their rights to very vocally support said teams, and I also acknowledge the significance of the Black Caps getting to the final, but to me the end result is - Meh....

Sorry if I have upset the true fans - NOT my intention. I thought about writing some bovine-excrement post in full support of it all, but then I thought that would be worse then just saying what I really think.

Somehow, you are labelled a traitor or something, if you don't fully support your home team 100%, but to me, all these sporting events are non-issues.

I'm much happier trying to get something working on my Micromites!

@Grogster

I know what you mean - I often get asked which (football) team I support and then people look at me strangely when I say that I just don't follow football in any way, shape, or form!

Here in the UK it seems to be a necessity for 'blokes' to follow the national game - personally I just don't get it. Mind you, I used to trade in sports bets and if you know anything about that then it seems even more strange as to why I don't follow any sport.

Back to the MicroMites . . . .

I am a transplant from Sydney to Melbourne a lot of years back. These two cities have predominantly different football codes. I don't care much for either but in Melbourne if you don't follow AFL (also called Australian Rules football) then some think you are a bit weird. I actually prefer and used to play real football (soccer). I watch the Football World Cup games all night long when they're on.

Now back to cricket, kill the keewees. However, I wouldn't like to bet on the match. I think the teams are so even that the match will be determined by which team gets the lucky breaks. The same type that got Australia the pair of very good runouts against India or just the good/bad umpiring decisions.

@Grog

The thing is that NZ is such a small country, (yet beautifully formed and one which I would choose to emigrate to [South Island only] if I wasn't so happy in Bonny Scotland) and yet, compared to the big guys, NZ does so well at Rugby and Cricket.

What's fascinating is that Rugby is about physical power (fitness, stamina and athleticism) - 15 stone guys who can do 100m in 11 secs. Cricket has nothing to do with physical power, just pure physical skill.

And you guys down (SA/AU/NZ) under generally wipe the floor clean with the Northern Hemisphere folks in Rugby and Cricket - and of course Australian Rules Football which only the Irish Gaelic Football players can understand.

G'luck

@ BobD - Yes, indeed. Without really knowing much about it, the Australian team are very, very good. So, it should be a very close call, as others are suggesting, and if I WERE a betting man, I'd just about say it was too close to call. We'll see what happens in tonights news, I guess!

@ G8JCF - My brother moved to Scotland, and broght back here to New Zealand, one of your Scottish lasses, so that's one robbed from you! They had a couple of kids while still living in Scotland, and when they moved here, they were 3 & 5 years old, and it is the cutest accent I have ever heard from wee kids!

@G

We Scots always complain that "we wuz robbed" and your brother proved it !

A few years back a family, not more than 10 doors up, emigrated down under - it's not possible it wuz your brother is it ? Ask him (or his missus) if he knows about Cullen !

Cute, Cute, Cute !! We all speak like that up here, and CUTE's got nothing to do with it

Anyway, have a great day when NZ win.

Ok Grogs,

That is a rejection then... I understand...

I am prepared to offer the same deal to another kiwi (well don't have to be a kiwi for that matter) but must bet on NZ to win (for me to lose)..

In any case Grogs, you only have to ask and anything I have to offer is yours anyway.

Go Aussies..!!!

Aussie Aussie Aussie OI! OI! OI!

PS. Don't start me on soccer (is their highest accollade still an Academy award??)..

If it wasn't for the acting and cheating it probably would be an enjoyable game to watch. Still don't know how you can call it football when you can get a goal by head butting or using your chest or your a$$ or whatever..

There you got me started... Happy now???...

Wahhhhh...

There, there, Mick....
It'll all be OK - let me wipe away those tears.....

I'd still be up for your original PCB bet - it is always good to see other people's creations!

I was not against the bet, per-se', I just got sidetracked explaining that I don't follow the cricket that much, but I'll still do the bet with you based on who wins.

It's all in good fun. Edited by Grogster 2015-03-29

Hi Grogs,

That's the ANZAC spirit..

It was only for a lark anyway, I suspect I will be the one sending out the PCB as the Aussies will be too full of themselves and go out expecting to win at home.. Anyway the finish to the last game they met in was as exciting a finish as I have seen and could have gone either way.. Your mob got there by the `skin of their sheep'.

Its ON..

This could be labelled the `Trans-Tasman PCB wars' ..... Where is Kerry Packer when you need him? (besides not with us any more)

Regards,

Mick

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?

The Aussies think they can win the cricket,
No matter what we do.

Hit one for BobD,
And hit one for Mick,
Aussie cricket supporters make me sick.

Bowl the underarm ball, sport
Bowl the underarm ball,

Do whatever it takes mate,
Do what ever it takes.

All together now ...

Tie the Kiwi down now,
Tie the Kiwi down..
Lets hear those kiwi sheep bleat,
`cause they cant handle the heat.

We will drive you back to the drink Grogster... You will see the error of your ways..

LOL!!!!

You might just do that.(drive me back to drink!).

Not a single beer or otherwise since 12th October last year. I'd like to do at least six months, but might aim for a year - who knows.
