Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Doesn't the ds3231 use the gettime and settime functions of mmbasic. I tried to use them last night and got error stating their was no pfc8563 found.
I was able to set and read time without these functions. Is there something I'm missing?Edited by easterly81 2015-04-13

Or 4.6b!

Change log for Micromite MMBasic Ver 4.6b
Quote  Extended the RTC command to work with Maxim/Dallas chips including the DS1703,
DS3231 and DS3232. This is in addition to the Philips PCF8563 which is already
supported. The RTC command syntax is exactly the same as in previous versions, the only change is that it will automatically detect and use whatever chip is connected to the I2C pins.

Please check if you can find a I2C device on &H68 (I2C Scanner).

Regards
Michael

That is not a message from a Micromite. You need to consider where you were and what command you made when you got that message. It may be from MMEdit or ....

There are more ways to program a MX170 as with a Pickit3 (or a Pickit3 clone from Banggood - 18$?) if you have a breadboard and a spare MX170.

We are good but not quite geniuses. We've had recent experience with someone else with the same problem. The hardest part was convincing you to update. We all knew the answer. It's great that you are working now.

viscomjim,

Do not fret for a PicKit 3.

If you have a Micromite II chip with V4.6 it will execute CFunctions and therefore run the faster version of Peter G8JCF MMProg32RPC. Without Cfunctions or with a Micromte PIC32MX150 you can run the slower version. By using Peter’s program you can update your version. You require 2 chips, one chip used to program/update another. You require a short ICSP programmer cable to connect between the chips, 5 wires and a socket, with the subject chip powered down this cable and wired for minimal power connections including bypass capacitors. I have wired a small strip board with a 28 pin ZIF socket for the Pic. You require one pre-programmed chip, can be of an obsolete version.

I could purchase a PicKit 3 or borrow one again but the programming solution that G8JCF refined works well.

Refer to Topic “simplest 32MX150 ICSP” on thebackshed, all interesting, but stable programs begin at page 43 of the 46, then the development is advanced in Topic “Micromite MkII beta testers needed” page 10.

Software available on Peter’s web site. I think that this software automatically determines which version should run?

Hi Keith W,

I really appreciate your help and this is what I like about this forum. People are so willing to help! What I meant about the statement I made is that none of my friends have a pickit 3 or even have a clue what the hell that would be. I do have one. I just wish one of my friends would have one also. This way I would know someone else that liked or even knew the difference between a pic made with a selfie stick and a pic from microchip. Again, thank you so much for your input and information!!!! This will probably help someone else also.
